Twenty six kilometres of Lake Huron shoreline frames the west boundary of Bluewater. The beach is a place for inspiration and reflection, fun in the sun with family and it provides the most breathtaking sunsets in all of Ontario!

Please be advised that Bluewater public beaches are open but high water levels and erosion have greatly reduced the size of our beaches, limiting the number of visitors who can access the beaches.

Remember that all safety protocols (staying 6 feet apart and frequent hand washing) remain in place.

Bayfield Main Beach

Bluewater's most popular beach location, Bayfield's Main Beach proudly boasts a Blue Flag status, and is fully equipped with a life saving station, drive up access, parking and public washrooms.

Located next to the Marina, you can enjoy a stroll on the pier, a fresh water swim or just take in the sunshine on the large sandy beach. Located only a short walk from the Historic Village of Bayfield's restaurants and boutiques, this beach is a great option for those looking to enjoy a day on the shores of Lake Huron!

(Access Closed Due to Erosion)

Bayfield South Beach, Bluewater, Ontario

This sandy beach is located just south of Bayfield Pier Beach. It is reached by way of a staircase with approximately 80 steps to the sandy shore. The Howard Street Beach previously provided views of Bayfield's famous shipwreck (pictured above) but a significant storm in 2018 shifted the remains of the vessel to a new resting place beneath the waves.

(Access via Pathway)

Sunset, Houston Heights Beach, Bluewater

Located at the end of Pavilion Road, just south of Bayfield, Houston Heights Beach offers ample parking, a large picnic pavilion (with washrooms), a wood lot, and a pathway down to the sandy shores.  A small play area with swings for the kids can also be found in this park like setting.

This location is great for families looking to escape the crowds.

(No Beach Access)

At the end of Sarara's Road, on a bluff over-looking Lake Huron you'll find a lookout offering the most breathtaking lake views!

The Bluewater Marina is a designated Blue Flag Marina. Located on the south side of the Bayfield River, close to the mouth of the river as it empties into Lake Huron and at the bottom of the Bayfield River watershed. The Bayfield Pier Beach and the fishing pier are nearby. This facility offers pump out service, 20, 30 and 50 amp electrical service, washrooms and showers.

The marina is equipped with picnic tables; there's a public launch site across the river.

The Bluewater Marina can be accessed via Lake Huron or turn left onto Short Hill Road and right on Long Hill Road after leaving Hwy. 21 at Bayfield.
