The program is 10-weeks in length and has two start dates: October 2022 or January 2023. Participants from the first program are welcome to register for the second program when registration for it opens in November.

The learn to play sessions will be instructed by experienced hockey players and include drills proven to develop core skills. There will also be scrimmage and game components where players can put their skills into action!

The sessions are 50-minutes in length.

This program is located at Hensall arena, 157 Oxford Street W, Hensall ON, N0M 1X0.

It is on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Session start times are 8 a.m. or 9 a.m. You will be notified of your start time before the program start date. Sessions will be divided into age and/or hockey experience.

Separate registration forms must be filled out for each participant being registered.

If you have any questions, please contact the program convenor.

Participants require full head to toe hockey gear.

A special sponsorship opportunity has allowed the municipality to offer 30 sets of free Bauer hockey gear for the first 30 registrants who are in need and request it. The set will include all necessary gear from head to toe. There is also an opportunity for individual pieces of equipment upon request. Please indicate on the registration form if you would like to be considered for full equipment or if there is a specific piece of equipment you are in need of.

A fitting night will be organized before the program start date for those receiving equipment. ALL equipment given is kept by the participant and does not need to be returned at the end of the program.

∗This opportunity is only available for the 2022 program.

Youth house league program

General Information

The youth house league hockey program is offered at the Zurich arena. This is an opportunity to play local, competitive hockey games for various skill levels!

This league is for children aged 6 to 15. Teams will be assigned to ensure even playing levels and age groups. Teams will be made after all registrations have been submitted. Coaches are on the bench to support and assist the players and a referee will officiate the games. The buzzer clock will be timed at 2 minutes a shift to guarantee equal playing time.

Registrants may make teammate requests on the registration form. The municipality will do its best to accommodate these requests where doing so will not impact the integrity of the program.
