ABCA flood watch issued

ABCA flood watch issued

The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch for the Ausable Bayfield watershed. It will remain in effect until Monday, April 7 at 9 a.m. unless local conditions warrant an update.

Rainfall forecasts for the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) over the next two days show a potential of 40-60 mm of rain falling in less than 24 hours, beginning late tomorrow morning and lasting into early Thursday morning. The track of the heaviest rains is unknown; however, current forecasts predict higher rainfall in the north half of the watershed.

Rainfall this past weekend combined with oncoming rain has saturated the ground, creating potential for quick run-off.

Based on the current forecast, and streamflow forecasting models, flooding is expected. The extent
of flooding will depend on the actual rainfall totals.

Do not drive on submerged roads. In addition, please use caution near all watercourses. Slippery and unstable streambanks and extremely cold water temperatures are creating additional hazards.

See the ABCA website for the full notice.
