Committees

The Municipality of Bluewater has a number of committees that members of the community may participate in. Involvement with our committees is a great way for local residents to volunteer in our community and learn about key municipal issues and initiatives.

The Municipality of Bluewater is in the process of preparing a secondary plan for the Bayfield settlement area. The Bluewater Official Plan guides development in all areas of Bluewater. The Secondary Plan will provide more specific policies and details that address development matters within the Bayfield community. The Secondary Plan seeks to help manage change and to respect the character of Bayfield.

A citizen advisory committee of 15 community members was struck by Council in 2020. The secondary plan project is led by Denise Van Amersfoort, Senior Planner with the County of Huron.

A comprehensive website has been developed. The page has all the information that has been received to date, including resident feedback on various topics in the Plan. Comments and feedback are encouraged! There are multiple opportunities and methods to participate. See the webpage to:

Please participate in this process! Secondary Plan development will continue to mid-2022. To view the terms of reference for the citizen advisory committee, please contact the Development Services Department.

The Municipality of Bluewater joined the Communities in Bloom program to foster civic pride, environmental responsibility and beautification with focus on enhancing green spaces in its communities. Reporting to the Municipality of Bluewater Council, the committee’s purpose is to plan and prepare to enter the Municipality of Bluewater into the Communities in Bloom program.

The Heritage Advisory Committee is a Committee of Council with statutory duties set out by the Ontario Heritage Act. Its volunteer members and Member of Council serve the whole community when they provide advice to Council on changes to designated heritage properties and properties within the Bayfield Heritage Conservation District.

The Bluewater Heritage Advisory Committee meets on the second Tuesday of the month. Please visit the Municipal Calendar for agendas and minutes.

The purpose of the Recovery Economic Venture (REV) Advisory Group is to develop strategies to assist the businesses of Bluewater in their recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
