ABCA issues watershed conditions statement—Flood outlook/water safety

ABCA issues watershed conditions statement—Flood outlook/water safety

Significant rainfall has fallen across the Ausable Bayfield watershed area.

The rain event began with dry soils that absorbed some of the initial rainfall on Saturday. However, ground conditions are now becoming saturated, with limited capacity to absorb additional moisture. Any further rainfall may result in increased runoff and additional rises in watercourse levels.

Major flooding is not expected. Any flooding is expected to be limited to low-lying, undeveloped floodplain areas.

Residents are reminded to avoid rivers and other waterways during and following periods of heavy
rainfall.

This message will remain in effect until 12:00 p.m. noon on Saturday, August 29, 2026, unless
otherwise updated.
