Dashwood Urban Reconstruction Phase 2 Update

This information is shared on behalf of Huron County.
The County of Huron, in partnership with the Municipality of Bluewater and the Municipality of
South Huron, has entered the second phase of the County Road 83 (Dashwood Road)
reconstruction project.
Phase 1, completed last year, included work from 145 metres west of Rinker Street to Centre
Street. Phase 2 extends from 350 metres east of Lane Street to Centre Street.
While some work remains within the Phase 1 area — including hydro pole relocation, asphalt
paving, and curb repairs — the majority of construction activity is now focused on Phase 2. This
includes the replacement of storm sewers, watermain, water services, sidewalk, asphalt, and new
curb and gutter.
Overall, the project is approximately 50% complete, with Phase 2 currently in its early stages.
Van Bree Enterprises mobilized in mid-April and will be continuing with work slated for 2025. Project updates and pictures are shared by the County of Huron through the project page on Huron County Connects. Residents are encouraged to subscribe to the County's project newsletter for updates. The link can be found on the Huron County Connects page.
Please note that the speed limit has been reduced to 30 kph through the construction zone.
Traffic will be maintained through the construction zone but there will be lane restrictions for the contractor to complete the installation/replacement of the existing infrastructure. Where possible, driveway access will be maintained. There will be times that driveway access will be restricted or closed. The contractor will notify the affected properties.
The County communicates road closures and lane restrictions on CR 83 through municipal511.ca. Road and lane closures affecting Bluewater-owned streets will be communicated through the news section of the Bluewater website and the Municipality's social media pages.
Garbage and recycling should be set out for collection at the normal time and location. Waste and recycling bins should be marked with the civic address as the contractor may need to move bins if work for the day impedes collection.
