Municipal-wide Zoning By-law Amendment

From time to time, municipal Council will direct staff to initiate a Zoning By-law Amendment to update zoning policies that apply to the land within the Municipality of Bluewater. During the Council meeting on May 6th, 2024, Council directed staff to do just this. The purpose of this Housekeeping Zoning By-law Amendment file #Z02-2024 is to update the overall Bluewater Zoning By-law including matters related to zoning by-law administration, buildings, entrances, accessory structures, defined terms and vending from a vehicle, manufactured homes and trailers. In addition, Council will receive two options of the Zoning By-law Amendment text; one with zoning text which outlines new size limits for trailer additions, and the second option with zoning text which prohibits additions to trailers.

Purpose and Effect

The purpose and effect of this Housekeeping Zoning By-law Amendment (application #: BLU Z02-24) is to update overall Bluewater Zoning By-law including matters related to:

  • Administration of the By-law, building, entrances, manufactured homes and trailers, accessory structures, defined terms and vending from a vehicle.
  • Additionally, two options are being considered for the additions to trailers provision (s29.5.1), one of which proposes to limit the size of additions and one of which proposes to prohibit additions, and can be reviewed in the two versions of the text attached.

Public Meeting

Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Bluewater will hold a public meeting on Monday, August 12th, 2024 at 6:30pm in the Stanley Community Centre-Council Chambers, 38594 Mill Rd, Varna, ON N0M 2R0 (Hybrid format is also available) to consider a proposed zoning by-law amendment under Section 34 of the Planning Act.

Council meetings are being held in person, with electronic attendance options.
